Surround Yourself With Love

Dear skyrah and Ava, 

You are born into this family. 

And I am glad we have each other to love.

Some people are not so lucky to be born into love, or born into good circumstances. And your biological family is something no one gets to choose. 

But there is hope, there is another way.

Choose your friends wisely.

Choose your life partner wisely.

Those are the family that you can choose for yourself.

Surround yourself with love.

The kind of love where I love you means I am not just here for the pretty parts, I am here no matter what. 

Good friends feel like a good home. They are honest with you. They remind you of your power. They give you strength when you feel weak.

Don’t look for someone who will solve all your problems coz that person does not exist. Choose the people who will not let you face your problems alone. 

Choose people who will not create problems for you, or make your problems worse by putting unsound thoughts into your head, or giving well intentioned but terrible advice, or pressure you into making unwise decisions that do not work or could ultimately destroy you.

A good friend finds you in the dark and carries you back into the light. Choose people who will see your darkness and balance it with lightness, not make light of it or make light of you. They hold your hand and walk together with you. Choose friends who support you in your adventures and support you in your healing. Choose people who carry you through when you cannot carry on.  

Choose people who will put their arms around you and love you even when you are not so lovable. 

People who love you will push you to grow. They don’t bring you down or keep you down. They lift you up with joy and laughter. 

One of my favourite feelings is laughing with my friends. Being in the moment, being made aware how much I enjoy them, how much I enjoy having them in my life. 

That is how I also feel about both of you. You are my favourite people.

I hope you will find people that allow you to feel all the feels. 

I hope you will be lifted up so high, you get to sit on the shoulders of giants in life.

I hope you will grow a big heart, so that you can have a big life full of love.

I hope that you will find friends who will bring out the best version of you, like you bring out the best in me.
