I Love You

I am not the kinda girl who needs to be showered with gifts or taken to fancy restaurants. It means a lot more to me if you picked a flower that has fallen on the ground to show me you thought about me, or sing me a song, or if you listen to me when I need to talk. Things that make me happy. Things that take you time and effort. Things that show you notice and care.

We don’t always get along, we don’t always feel the love, and we don’t always love right when we fight. You have given me many reasons to get mad at you, especially when you gaslight. But after we work through the difficult stuff and overcome all the small petty stuff to grow closer together, here are the important big picture reasons why I choose to love you.

I love our morning kisses. I love our cuddles on the couch. I love our movie nights . I love you.

I love you because you have a huge and honest heart. I love you because you have integrity. I love you because you are handsome and smart.

I love you because you believe in me. I love you because you take care of me, you care and you are there. I love you because you are different from me. I love you because you make me try better. 

I love you because sometimes you make me smile on days I forget how to. I love you telling me "I'm smiling at you because I love you". I love you giving me here's-looking-at-you winks. I love the way your eyes crinkle up when you laugh. I love the way you are thoughtful towards me and others. I love you when you are kind to me, especially when I am not kind to myself. 

I love you for who you are.

I love you because you are you.

I love you because of who I am because of you.

You giving me your best you and bringing out the best in me, is the best gift you could ever give me.
